The 12th Silk Road International Film Festival will be held in Fuzhou, Fujian, from September 22 to 26, 2025, with the theme of «Silk Road Connects the World, Light and Shadow Illuminate the Capital of Fujian».
Over 3,500 films were submitted from 135 countries and regions, with over 92% coming from overseas (including 1,850 films from countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative).
The Golden Silk Road Award competition attracted 2,856 films from 125 countries, a record high.
The jury is composed of 13 filmmakers from seven countries, with Chen Kaige as chairman, and will select 10 major awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Over the past 12 years, it has attracted participation from more than 130 countries, with a total contract value exceeding 20 billion yuan, promoting the sharing of film resources among countries along the Silk Road.
The 12th Silk Road International Film Festival, leveraging film and television, deeply integrates international collaboration, cross-strait exchanges, and public welfare initiatives, highlighting the openness and vitality of the Chinese film market (with an annual box office of nearly 2 billion).
The festival’s «Tale of Two Cities» model (rotating between Xi’an and Fuzhou) continues to inject new impetus into the exchange of civilizations along the Belt and Road Initiative and will further expand the boundaries of global film cooperation in the future.
